Information Gathering
Are you still information gathering about your future project? It's easy to see pictures online and think that replicating something you saw is exactly what you need. I challenge you to stop for a minute and look further into the picture.
What feeling does this picture give you?
Is this the same feeling that you are looking for in your space?
Are there unique space layouts that achieve this look that may not work in your space?
Is there something about the efficiency of the layout that would work well with your lifestyle?
Do you like the finishes or just a certain piece of the image?
Is it the composition of the image that has caught your eye?
Is it just the amount of natural lighting?
It's so easy to get caught-up in Instagram worthy images that have been well curated. But once you stop and look at the image for a minute you may realize its not that you are in love with the design, it may be some other feeling or symmetry that grabbed your attention. Especially if you are adding on to an existing building, its very important to look at the details of your current space and understand how that will affect a new space. Starting to seem a little overwhelming? Don't worry, that's what I'm here for.
But for now, here's a few good sources of inspiration for your next project. Save the images you like but try to understand what it is about the image that gives you the feels.
